Cahuachi

It is claimed that this complex was one of the oldest religious centers in America (from 400 B.C. to 400 AD). Cahuachi literally means the "place where the visionaries live" and is located 28 kilometers from the city of Nazca. It occupies a space of 24 square kilometers and is a citadel built in Adobe, where especially the pyramids are most impressive: the great pyramid is 28 meters high and 100 m long, in addition there is a temple, the stepped temple and there are hills. It is located on a rolling terrain near the famous Nasca Lines and the whole is surrounded by a large wall.

It was the main housing and ritual center of the Nasca culture and was mainly used for sacrificial rituals with agricultural products. Their main activity was agriculture, and it is believed that Cahuachi was the standard for the spread of new settlements along the rest of the Peruvian coast.
