Half Day trip to Sillustani

The archaeological site of Sillustani is located at about 34 km  from the city of Puno (22.3 miles - 35 minutes by car) and is situated at an altitude of 3,840mts (12,858 feet) above sea level. Sillustani is strategically located on top of a peninsula surrounded by a beautiful lagoon called Laguna Umayo. This archaeological site was a cemetery built in the thirteenth century by a civilization that occupied this region before the Inca domination. The builders of these imposing funerary towers are known as the Kolla people or nation. The most imposing funerary towers were built for the most powerful chiefs and priests. The tour can be done in group or with a private guide and usually starts in the afternoon at 2 pm because in the mornings there is normally a strong and cold wind in this area.
