Located south of Lima, Pachacamac gives an impressive picture of the changes that have taken place in Time and Space. A history of wealth located next to and surrounded by the metropolis of Lima with its ever-expanding (slum) districts. This Tour is definitely recommended if you like history and culture amid sociological changes in developing countries.

Tour TO
pachacamac

Located about 30 km south of Lima is the archaeological site Pachacamac. Pachacamac is a pre-Columbian fortress consisting of palaces, temples and pyramids made of clay and stone. If you have already been to Machu Picchu then this site may not be very interesting but Pachacamac was an important Inca site and a big city at the time the Spaniards arrived. It started as a ceremonial center for the Lima Culture around 100 B.C. and was later expanded by the Wari Culture before the city was taken over by the Ichsma Culture. Eventually, the site was occupied by the Incas who allowed ancient religions and merged it with their own gods. The Incas added numerous other structures when they conquered this area on the coast in 1450. The name Pachacamac can be translated in different ways and means 'He who created the world' or 'He who created Land and Time' and comes from the Wari God, whose wooden sculpture with two faces can be seen in the museum on site.
